Dr Allen Kabagenyi

Bio


Allen is a Senior Demographer with a PhD in Population Studies from Makerere University in collaboration with the University of Cambridge, UK. She also trained in Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Qualitative (EBQ) at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. Allen has over ten years of experience in demography, Population and reproductive health. Allen is a member of the Ministry of Health, Uganda Maternal and Child Health Technical Working Group, and the National Demographic Dividend Steering Committee; she also co-chairs the Demographic Dividend Sub-Committee of the International Conference on Family Planning.

Allen is passionate about maternal and adolescent health, focusing on the Demographic Dividend. She led the development of an Operations Manual integrating Gender and Demographic Dividends into National Plans, Policies, and Programmes, and she was the Lead Editor and Reviewer of “The Roadmap for Harnessing Uganda’s Demographic Dividend Report. Dr Kabagenyi has won The New Generation of Family Planning Leaders.

Awards provided by the Bill and Gates Foundation, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Bill and Melinda Institute for Population and Reproductive Health. She also won the 2017 American Psychological Foundation (ADF) Henry P. David Reproductive Health Award. She is a KISH fellow and an academic affiliate of the University of Michigan –Survey Methodology program. She is a fellow of the Demographic and Health Survey program and the Policy Communications (PRB).
