Lieutenant General Osman Nour Soubagle, a distinguished military leader, played pivotal roles within the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM), during 2016-2018 as its commander. His contributions to AMISOM were multifaceted, having previously served as Djibouti’s representative in AMISOM’s Military Operations Coordination Committee (MOCC) and as Chief of Defence Staff at AMISOM between 2012 and 2013.
General Soubagle began his military career in the artillery branch, and later transferred to the military engineers corps. Furthering his education, he completed staff officers training at the War College in the United States. In addition, he later attended the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterrey.
After leaving active service recently, General Soubagle continued dealing with regional and security affairs as a sought-after advisor.
